How to reach Bhimtal

Host Labs Homestay is in the hills above Bhimtal, in Nainital district, Uttarakhand. Most guests come by train to Kathgodam or drive up from Delhi. Here is each way in, with the road distance and the usual drive time to our door.

By train: Kathgodam

Kathgodam is the nearest railway station, at the foot of the hills, 25 km, about 55 min by car from the homestay. It is the end of the line, with direct trains from Delhi, both by day and overnight; check the current timings on IRCTC.

By air: Pantnagar

Pantnagar is the nearest airport, 63 km, about 1 h 50 min by car from the homestay, with flights from Delhi. Taxis run from the airport; after Haldwani the road climbs into the hills.

By road from Delhi

Bhimtal is about 300 km from Delhi, usually 7 to 8 hours by car and longer on holiday weekends. The road runs through Moradabad, Rampur and Haldwani.

The last stretch, from Kathgodam (25 km), is a hill road: best driven in daylight if you are new to the hills. Parking at the homestay is free and on site.

By bus

Uttarakhand Transport and private buses run from Delhi's Anand Vihar bus terminal to Haldwani, and some go on to Bhimtal and Nainital. Haldwani is 32 km, about 1 h 5 min by car from the homestay; taxis go up from there.

Getting around

Bhowali, 4.1 km away, is the nearest market town, with taxis and fruit stalls. Ask us for a cab or a scooty for the day.
